URBAN RESILIENCY
Rio De Janeiro Masterplanning focused on food scarcity, water management, renewable energies, and community involvement.
MASTER PLANNING
Increases in population and urban sprawl will require more production. With increases in CO2 emissions, we must rethink urban infrastructure. This work will introduce a new form of agriculture production to where post industrial cities become productive machines. This will affect the landscape, architecture, and society in growing cities. Products in this contexts products can grow fresh, natural, organic, producing zero net energy overall. The accessibility to goods will then be equally distributed. The overall goal is to create an innovative sustainable future for communities and their environment. In addition, structure of economy, spaces and societies will change based on the new system of integrated and technologically evolved agriculture production. Depending on context, this will shape the space for new forms of sociality, to be more self-sufficient towards self sufficiency, resiliency and sustainability. Furthermore, the new morphologies that will follow, will create new urban connections between space and their inhabitants.
STUDIO PROJECTS
URBAN SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURE
This project consisted of a small scale commercial office building on Canal Street, Chinatown in New York City. It included a hybrid agriculture production with commercial use with sustainable systems and community spaces.
URBAN PLANNING
The project was on a study abroad trip to Barcelona. The site is a pre-industrial factory that has 3 massive chimneys and an abandoned building behind. The proposal dedicates the new beachfront to be half built and half greenspace. In addition, there's a boardwalk that connects the two.
COMMUNITY CENTER
The space is comprised of half private space: offices, and the other half is open to the community. The building is connected to a building adjacent from it that has been injected with a community space in a high volumed office building.
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL &Â
COMMUNITY CENTER
The site consist of an elementary school for 3-5th graders, a library for the public with offices, and a performing art center of which was personally injected. The three buildings are connected by a series of pathways that control the visitors circulation from building to building.
AFFORDABLE HOUSING
The site is flexible. The residences are for low income residents in a high population density area.
DRAFTING WORK
Construction documents of an existing building for drafting skills.
